PRP O-Shot®

The O-Shot® is a revolutionary approach to improving sexual intercourse and urinary incontinence. The results of this safe, non-surgical 20-minute procedure are dramatic and long-lasting.

Women report significant improvements in stimulation, sensitivity, arousal, and libido. Problems associated with a leaky bladder are often resolved.

Each woman's experience will vary, but here are some benefits of O-SHOT®:

  • Increased arousal due to clitoral stimulation
  • The skin of the vulva (vaginal lips) becomes younger and smoother.
  • Firmer vaginal opening (vaginal opening)
  • The vulva is pinker and younger in color.
  • Stronger and more frequent orgasms
  • Increased sexual desire
  • Reduces pain in patients with dyspareunia (pain during intercourse)
  • Increased natural lubrication
  • Improvement of urinary incontinence symptoms
  • Reduces inflammation in lichen sclerosus (as seen before and after biopsy)

Who can benefit from O-SHOT®?

If you are a woman who suffers from sexual dysfunctions such as low libido, inability to achieve orgasm, or urinary incontinence, you know how frustrating these problems can be. Most women are embarrassed or nervous about talking to their doctors or gynecologists about these issues, and many doctors don't have much to say about these important issues. In fact, until recently, there were few ways to resolve these women's concerns other than prescribing hormones or offering psychotherapy.

Orgasm Shot® or O-Shot® is a new treatment that not only offers hope for these conditions but can also be administered as a simple and very comfortable course of treatment.

So, how does this process work?

Preparation for PRP

First, a small amount of blood is taken from your arm. Dr. Suh uses a centrifuge to separate platelets from that blood (platelet-rich plasma, or PRP) in about 15 minutes in her office. The platelets then become “activated” and release at least eight growth factors that are commonly used to repair damaged tissue. These growth factors increase collagen and new blood flow.

PRP Growth Factor Injection

After applying numbing cream to the vaginal area, your doctor will use a small needle to carefully and gently place the correct amount of PRP into the structures responsible for female orgasm and pleasure. Patients report feeling absolutely no pain during this procedure!

Healing and growth factors trigger new cell growth and blood vessel formation over several months. When the tissue is stimulated, it thickens and produces more lubrication, making it more flexible, sensitive, and elastic.

Results vary, but most women who receive this injection experience improvements in their sexual response and ability to hold urine soon after the injection (hours to weeks). Some experienced a severe and almost immediate increase in sensitivity. However, most women have a more gradual reaction that occurs over a few weeks and lasts for months or years before repeating or amplifying.

Platelet-rich plasma is known for its ability to heal damaged tissue quickly and naturally. At Metro Dermatology, we include PRP in our facial rejuvenation and hair loss treatments to maximize results.

What is PRP?

The benefits of PRP were first discovered in athletes who were able to return to their sport more quickly than with medication or physical therapy.

Blood is mostly liquid but also contains solid components such as red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Platelets are best known for their ability to clot blood, but they also contain important growth factors that can be used to regenerate body tissue.

PRP is a sample of a patient's blood spun in a centrifuge. This separates the blood components and causes the plasma concentration to be higher than normal. Once the centrifugation process is complete, PRP is extracted from the remaining blood sample and injected into the treatment area or applied topically.

How is PRP used in the treatment process?

When combined with cosmetic treatments such as facial rejuvenation and hair restoration, PRP has the following benefits:
  • Facial Rejuvenation – The growth factors in PRP, alone or in combination with other skin rejuvenation treatments, stimulate the production of new collagen, elastin and blood vessels in the treatment area, creating soft, plump skin and restoring its natural glow.
  • Hair Restoration – For male and female patients experiencing premature hair loss, PRP has been proven to stimulate hair regrowth in affected areas. PRP is injected into the scalp to form new growth tissue at the hair roots.

What are the benefits of PRP?

In addition to naturally stimulating healthy tissue regeneration, PRP offers several benefits to patients.
Minimally invasive procedure that allows patients to return to normal activities right away
Since PRP is a tissue of the body, it eliminates the risk of complications and side effects when it re-enters the body. Unlike other rejuvenation treatments that only provide temporary improvements, PRP promotes the growth of new tissue for sustained rejuvenation over time. PRP has no major side effects other than slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site.
